Cogito Ergo Sum (2010)

It is easy to become lost in silence,
To close your eyes and tear down the walls,
Give in to thoughts and their quiescent violence,

Only a will of iron bars the way,
Unfazed, they continue to insist,
Only a resolve of steel keeps them at bay,

I know what will happen if they break through,
Soon enough I will become you,
The one who feels and hurts and cries,
The one who writes and dreams and dies,
I want to let you out, set you free,
But I live in a world where you cannot be,
In the dark musty dungeon you must remain,
And hope the day comes for you to reign,

Someday I will succumb,
Struck deaf and blind and dumb,
It is not difficult to go insane,
In a world filled with the inane,
